Our long-time co-chair Helmut Heuschen passed away on June 22, 2023. He was a highly valued member of ICASSI’s international faculty team for many years. He began his journey in 1989 in Interlaken, Switzerland, with a course in his area of expertise: writing therapy and fairy tales (“Self-Invented Fairy Tales – A Path to Self-Discovery”).
Heuschen soon became a member of the Board and was first appointed as Co-Chair in 1993. In this role, he devoted significant effort to the ongoing development of the Summer School. His final year on ICASSI’s Board was in 2012.
Together with Prof. Roy Kern, he developed and led the three-day Management Institute, which was held during the Summer Schools around the turn of the millennium.
We deeply appreciate and honor his contributions to ICASSI’s continuous success, particularly through his willingness to bring individual psychological theory and practice to new countries on behalf of ICASSI. This was especially impactful in Eastern Europe, where Adlerian psychology was still underdeveloped at the time.
Helmut Heuschen was a remarkable and highly esteemed ambassador for Individual Psychology.
His contributions to ICASSI remain unforgettable.
