Day trip to Trier

10 a.m. to 9 p.m

Trier is the oldest city in Germany, founded by the Romans in 16 BC as “Augusta Treverorum”. Six Roman emperors resided here. The buildings still bear witness to this political and cultural significance today. Already in the 4th century 80,000 people lived here.

Program:

10 a.m.: the bus picks us up at Steinfeld Monastery, after about 2 hours we reach Trier.

Around 12:00 p.m.: A short city tour takes us to well-preserved ancient buildings such as the Roman Imperial Baths. We then visit the amphitheater together, which was completed in the 2nd century and has been part of Trier’s UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986.

12.45 p.m. We get out of the bus at the famous Porta Nigra and go on a city tour that leads from the Porta Nigra via the main market to the cathedral and the Church of Our Lady past many beautiful half-timbered houses.

Afterwards there is the opportunity to individually explore the city center with, for example, a small snack in one of the terrace restaurants or an ice cream at Gelateria Calchera at the porta or enjoying a lively city.

At 5:30 p.m. we meet in the “ Früh-Bis-Spät ” restaurant, the largest “ Früh ” brewery after the original one in Cologne. We can enjoy a dinner of our own choosing before the bus takes us back to Steinfeld at 7p.m.. Planned arrival there around 9 p.m.
